Step One - Be clear what you want.

You need to know why you want to start a business, this is the fundamental question. By answering this question this will give you an understanding of the sort / type of business you want.

It maybe that you only require some additional money so it may be an add on to your existing job, however, it maybe more fundamental than this and will mean leaving your current role completely and starting something completely new.

Consideration will need to be given on how you will manage your bookkeeping and accounting needs as well as the impact on your self assessment and tax affairs, hence, the reason it is advisable to consult a Chartered Accountant at the out set.
