Job Support Scheme (JSS)

Rules for the JSS (Open) - the Government will pay 61.67% of hours not worked up to a cap of £1,541.75 per month. The employer will contribute 5% of non-worked hours up to a cap of £125 per month. The caps are based on a monthly salary of £3,125. i.e employees earn a minimum of 73% of their normal wages. The employee will have to work a minimum of 20% of their normal hours. If the business is required to close their premises due to coronavirus restrictions, the JSS grant will cover up to two thirds of employees' salaries, subject to a cap of £2,100 per month.

Rules for the JSS (Closed) - provides temporary support to businesses whose premises have been required to close by law as a direct result of coronavirus restrictions. It will cover up to two thirds of employees' salaries, subject to a cap of £2,100 per month.

Both schemes will open on 1 November 2020 and run for 6 months, until April 202. Employers will be able to make a claim online from 8 December 2020 and backdated to 1st Nov 2020 but the employee needs to start working reduced hours or reduced hours are confirmed in writing. Grants will be paid in arrears after the payment to employee has been made.
